We've been gathering many fantastic talent for this project! It's brought me so many tears of joy! We also got a new art director, I was never told her name, but I hope Sakura post some stuff form her soon. (Hint Hint) Just wow, she's amazing! She's breathing life into this project and giving us sketches that are better than any of us could imagine! (And Sakura wrote the story!)
Now onto some Voice Acting Advice (for girls, sorry boys!)
I was really touched when I was talking with Sakura and some of the guys because I told them I envy their voices because boys could do so much. One pointed out to me though that girls can do small children (boys and girls, a lot of boys have girlish voices when they are children) just as easily as an adult women. Really made me see how hey, I'm not such a bad voice actor after all!
And apparently I sound like Kagome? I was doing my Tohru Honda voice as we were waiting for our Naraku to try again (just to have him adjust his voice, we already liked him. Just experimenting) and I was pretending to die to help get him into character and make everyone else remember how much we all hate Naraku (because he hurts our friends) and get ready for his speech. I was told I sounded like Kagome though as I died, but then I argued I was doing Tohru Honda and showed them (which I thought just about every girl on this planet could do her, but I've been proven wrong). Hahaha how exciting! Looks like I have something to work on! Kagome and Tohru are placed so closely in the same area of my head!
For all those interested in where Tohru is placed (or where I place her voice, and I'll describe it the best I can to my knowledge) you have to take in a lot of air because when you raise your voice, think of it as singing, you don't need to get louder rather more air is just coming out of your mouth faster which makes your voice high (but it still must be placed in the head). She has a very sweet tone, and the best way to fill up your mouth with air (like holding as much water as you can in your mouth, so you need to use a big mouth. But don't talk like you have a mouth full of water!) breath with your diaphragm and speak from there, not your throat (because breathing form your chest won't give you nearly as much air, which naturally we all used to breathe with our diaphragms, and speaking from your throat like singing can hurt it for long periods of time, so just be careful). The voice is placed in the back of the throat (remember to keep it in your head, you'll feel it. Put your thumb and pointer finger around your neck, raise it up till you stop on the sides, that's where the voice should start) That voice will continue up and stop at the top of the nose (not the tip because then you go nasally. You want to keep it back to avoid making it nasally). When you speak, it'll be like you are holding a mouth full of water, but air, so have a BIG mouth once more. The voice will be mostly in your big mouth and at your nose (but not the tip!). It make come forward, because when I start to speak it comes forward a little bit. It may come forward in the mask, and go above the nose to in between your eyes. It just may vary with your voice. (as for Kagome, same thing just a little forward to create that sharper tone). Also listening to voices and trying to mimic them is good, but knowing where the voice is placed really helps A LOT!
Happy VAing! ^_^
